Kandy is one of the Major city in Sri Lanka, Which is Located in Central Province. It also called “Maha Nuwara” or “Great City” by name. It is the cultural capital city of Sri Lanka, which is surrounded by range of mountains, and it was 115km away from the Colombo seaport and an elevation of 1,640 feet (500 meters). Kandy city It lies on the Mahaweli River, man made lake that was constructed (1807) by the king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinha. In 1952 Kandy was capital city of Sri Lanka. Also heart of the Kandy city center there is decorative and the man made lake called “Kiri Muhuda” which bring charming beauty to Kandy city.

Kandy is a center for both Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism. The most important Buddhist temple of Dalada Maligawa (“Temple of the Tooth”) located in center of Kandy city and close to Lake. The Great Esala Perahera brings extra beauty and Legend to city of Kandy. Kandy Esala Perahera happening every year around the city with Drummer and Traditional Dancers, Fire Dancers, beautiful Elephants and many kind of other dancers and features, it’s one of legendry event in Kandy City and well as Sri Lanka.

How to reached to Kandy

The train station is one of the best way to travel to Kandy since it’s connected to the central highlands, East to Trincomalee, North to Jaffna and to the capital city of Colombo. However below options are available.
